Surabaya – Tuanrumah Temasya Sukan Universiti Asean (AUG) 2024 Indonesia membentangkan sebanyak 18 acara sukan yang bakal dipertandingkan tanpa menyenaraikan acara sukan ‘ibu kepada segala pingat’ iaitu bolasepak.
Temasya ini buat pertama kali dalam sejarah AUG akan berlangsung di dua bandar utama di Surabaya dan Malang. Tragedi malang yang mengorbankan 132 nyawa di Stadium Kanjuruhan, Malang di Jawa Timur pada aksi Liga 1 Indonesia ketika Arema FC menentang Persebaya pada Oktober lalu masih menjadi igauan buruk kepada Indonesia.
“Kita masih ada waktu sebelum memutuskan untuk mengadakan acara sepakbola atau tidak di AUG 2024. Tunggu dan lihat situasi ini sambil berharap kita mendapat jaminan kuat dari pemerintah tentang soal keselamatan untuk semua” Del Asri, Ketua Bidang Prestasi Tinggi, Badan Pengelola Olahraga Mahasiswa Indonesia (BAPOMI).
Thailand dan Malaysia antara negara yang mendesak Indonesia agar tetap menyenaraikan acara bolasepak pada temasya itu nanti. Pada Mesyuarat Majlis Sukan Universiti Asean (AUSC) di Surabaya semalam, 18 acara sukan iaitu olahraga, renang, futsal, badminton, sepaktakraw, bolakeranjang (5×5, 3×3), bola tampar (dalam dewan, pantai), handball, judo, pencak silat, wushu, taekwondo, karate, sport climbing, memanah, petanque, tenis dan mind sports (chess, bridge) akan dipertandingkan.
Sementara itu Malaysia kekal menerajui Sekretariat AUSC bagi tempoh 2023-2025 setelah memenangi undian mengatasi Indonesia pada Mesyuarat Agong Tahunan AUSC yang turut berlangsung semalam.
“Kita terus diberi kepercayaan ini sejak 2010 oleh kebanyakan negara anggota tetapi pada waktu yang sama kita juga perlu melepaskan tanggungjawap ini kepada negara lain atas semangat setiakawan negara Asean. Mesyuarat AUSC kali ke 35 dan Mesyuarat Agong Tahunan AUSC kali ke 5 di Surabaya bermula kelmarin di Surabaya, Indonesia dirasmikan oleh Dato Dr Pekan Ramli yang mewakili Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi semalam.
